Ac­ces­si­bil­i­ty

We do everything we can to make the museum easily accessible. 

• Both museum buildings have a lift that takes you to all floors. Do you need help with the lift? Feel free to speak to one of our staff. 
• The accessible toilet can also be reached with the lift. 
• Need a rest during your visit? You can borrow a free folding seat from reception.

We provide various items that enable you to visit the museum as independently as possible. 

• In the exhibition rooms, there are tactile maps to help you find your way around. 
• You can download an adapted guided tour onto your own smartphone with the ErfgoedApp. 
• Don’t have a smartphone with you? You can borrow a tablet from reception. 
• Registered assistance and therapy animals are welcome. 

We ensure that the stories we tell are accessible in different ways. 

• All the videos are subtitled in Dutch and English. 
• Audio testimonies are also available as written texts. 

Do you want to know in advance what to expect? We’re happy to help. 

• With a visual guide and a sensory map, you will get a clear idea of your visit beforehand. 
• Need a quiet place? On level -1 of the Laboratory, you will find a quiet and care room beside the lockers. Bear in mind that sounds from the corridor may be audible. 

Vesalius Museum is a member of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, an international initiative for people with an invisible disability. 

The sunflower symbol indicates that someone might need extra support, understanding or patience. Our staff recognise the symbol and will be happy to help when needed.

In the quiet and care room on level -1 of the Laboratory, you will find: 

• a changing table; 
• a place to feed your child; 
• a quiet space to relax for a while. 

Buggies are not allowed in the museum. If you are visiting with a baby or toddler, we advise you to bring a sling or baby carrier. You can park your buggy at reception.
