A visit to Vesalius Museum is far from a traditional museum tour. Young people look, listen, investigate and discuss what they find.
Interactive tour
During an interactive tour of the exhibition, students discover how care and science shape our lives, from before we are born to after we die. They explore these themes through remarkable objects, personal stories and surprising interactive experiences.
Most importantly, they get to explore for themselves. They experience what the world sounds like from inside the womb. Look at care and illness from different perspectives. And encounter questions without easy answers. When does life begin? What is normal? And when are you actually old?
Practical
- Who is this for: High school students in their third to sixth year.
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Price per guide: 100 euros per group (maximum 15 students per group)

- Visitors aged 18 and under: free
- Accompanying adults: € 16, unless you are entitled to a discount
- Capacity: a maximum of 3 groups can start at any one time
Extra option: workshop
After the tour, students take a closer look at an experience almost everyone is familiar with: the school health check. Using both historical and modern medical instruments, they get to measure, weigh and test for themselves.
They also explore the health check from different perspectives. How are you measured, for example, if you use a wheelchair? What does it feel like to be measured, weighed and assessed? What can numbers tell us about who we are, and what can’t they tell us? And what should the health check of the future look like?
A workshop about measurements and norms, care and technology. And about how good care can look beyond the numbers and see the person behind them.

To prepare for a visit and explore it further in class afterwards, we provide:
- a lesson pack linked to the attainment targets in the curriculum
- background information on the themes of the exhibition
- access to audio and video testimonials from the museum
Good to know
- School groups are welcome to visit the museum from 16 December onwards.
- Lockers are available for coats and rucksacks.
- A member of staff will welcome your group at the arranged collection point.
- There is no lunchroom in the museum. However, there are picnic spots on the Hertogensite and in the outdoor areas between the museum buildings.
