Join us as volunteer, guide or student
Would you like to help create a new museum?
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers, guides and students to welcome visitors and tell the story of the Vesalius Museum.
Join us right from the start and develop your skills as our museum grows.
Self-employed guides
- You will be part of the first group of guides working at the Vesalius Museum, taking visitors on a journey through the story of healthcare and science.
- You will show groups around the museum’s permanent exhibition route.
- You will make complex medical and social themes, including some sensitive topics, accessible to a wide audience.
- You will create space for wonder, reflection and conversation.
- You will work with carefully developed guide packs that guarantee high-quality content whilst allowing space for personal touches.
- You will work as a self-employed guide.

- Selection interviews will take place in the week of 17 August 2026.
- The first training session will be held in September 2026.
Volunteers
- Our volunteers help create a warm, professional and inspiring museum experience.
- Volunteers may be asked to carry out various tasks, such as helping out at reception and welcoming visitors to the exhibition galleries.
- You will be joining us at a special time, a few months before the opening. You will get to know the museum up close and grow alongside its new activities.
- You will contribute ideas to the volunteer programme and help to develop it further.
- You will be part of an enthusiastic team.
Students
- You are a student at KU Leuven or one of its association partners: LUCA School of Arts, UCLL, Odisee, Thomas More or VIVES.
- Our student workers belong to the front-of-house team and act as a key point of contact for visitors.
- You will welcome visitors and help them out at reception, at the ticket desk and in the museum shop.
- You will work with an enthusiastic team and help create a warm, professional, and inspiring museum experience.
- You will be part of a larger group. We are looking for around twenty enthusiastic students to join our team.
- You will have the opportunity to gain insight into the workings of a new museum behind the scenes.
